About BATS
Founded in June 2005, BATS entered into the U.S. securities market where innovation and technology leadership were at risk due to over consolidation in exchange industry. Independent market centers were being purchased by larger competitors, and the number of credible places to trade was rapidly decreasing.
The industry and technology professionals that make up the BATS team are focused on keeping innovation and competition alive in the securities markets. Since opening its doors for business, several large and well-respected industry leaders have invested in BATS . Because BATS employees and investors come from the industry, BATS is well positioned to make the markets a better place to do business.
In just a few years BATS has become the third largest securities market center in the United States behind the NYSE and Nasdaq, and is also in the process of expanding into Europe.
